Three arrested after burglary
Three men have been arrested in connection to a residential burglary and car theft reported early Monday morning on Sycamore Street.
According to a release from the Tiffin Police Department, Justin A. Matthews, 27, of Tiffin, was arrested and charged with burglary, a second-degree felony, after law enforcement searched his apartment in the 200 block of East Perry Street Monday night and found numerous items believed to be from the burglary.
Road patrol had received information late Monday afternoon that led to possible suspects and the subsequent search warrant, according to the release.
An accomplice to the burglary, Anthony R. Cortez, 35, of Tiffin, also was arrested and charged with burglary, a second-degree felony. According to the release, Cortez was arrested upon his discharge from Mercy Tiffin Hospital, where he had been seeking medical treatment for a possible drug overdose.
A third man, Dennis E. Dinan, 30, of Tiffin, faces a charge of complicity to burglary, a second-degree felony, for allegedly assisting Cortez and Matthews following the burglary.
All three men are incarcerated at the Seneca County jail and likely are to appear in court today, according to the release.
According to the release, the investigation into the burglary, which was reported at a 100-block Sycamore Street residence around 4 a.m. Tuesday by a neighbor, continues.
Items taken from the residence included a TV, laptop, wallet, food, alcohol and silver dishware. The suspects also took keys to a Mercedes from the residence and stole the car. It was found abandoned in a field near East TR 122 and CR 15.
The homeowner was asleep on the second story of the home during the burglary.
