Man arrested after bank robbery
A Carey man was arrested in connection to the robbery of a downtown Carey bank Tuesday.
According to a release from the Carey Police Department, Chad E. Gossman, 38, is being held at the Wyandot County jail on robbery and possession of cocaine charges.
The robbery was reported at 10:30 a.m. by a teller at First Citizen’s National Bank, 129 E. Findlay St.
According to the release, the teller said the suspect was possibly armed and fled the bank on foot. Wyandot County Sheriff Mike Hetzel said the suspect, who was wearing a mask, took an undisclosed amount of cash from the bank. Hetzel said a weapon was not observed.
He said no injuries were reported and the bank was closed Monday following the robbery.
According to the release from the police department, Carey police were assisted at the scene by the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, a Wyandot County Prosecutor’s Office investigator, the Upper Sandusky Police Department and the canine unit of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation also assisted.
During the investigation, officers recovered evidence, including money believed to be stolen from the bank, the release states.
