Deputies investigate theft of N.Y. vehicle

Law enforcement officers located a youth from New York in a McDonald’s restroom as they were investigating a stolen vehicle and license plates Sunday morning.

According to a Seneca County Sheriff’s Office report, a vehicle in the 2000 block of West SR 18 was sitting with its hazards on with no one around. Deputy Denny Wilkinson of Seneca County Sheriff’s Office said the vehicle was broken down with a flat tire.

According to the report, someone had advised that the driver of the red Dodge minivan had gone into Walmart. A person at the fuel station advised a younger man had said he needed a jump and had a flat tire and then headed toward the store.

Law enforcement personnel searched the West Market Street area for a person matching the description of a white male, 5 foot, 8 inches to 5 foot, 10 inches tall wearing a gray and blue striped hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, brown boots and yellow gloves.

Wilkinson said the van was stolen from New York, the youth’s home state.

A person was taken to the juvenile center, according to the report.
