Boil alert issued for Green Springs

GREEN SPRINGS – A boil alert was issued for Green Springs after several issues with the village’s water system were located Sunday.

The boil alert was due to substantial main line breaks, according to the police and fire departments.

John Miller, village administrator, said a break was located at Leonard and Morgan streets about 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Water was percolating out of the ground, and the village’s water tower was experiencing high usage. Miller estimated it took three hours to fix the break.

The village also experienced trouble with its main line valve. Miller said the bolts holding the top of the valve in place had decayed, breaking the top of the valve loose.

All three of the village’s public works employees helped address the issues. The workers remained at Adams and Leonard streets to fix the broken valve around 8 p.m. Sunday.

“We’re all here,” Miller said.

The boil alert remained in place as of about 8 p.m. Sunday.
