Jail time suspended for vehicular manslaughter

A Findlay man was sentenced to three years of probation Friday after he pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter, a second-degree misdemeanor charge.

Terry E. Bryant Jr., 28, who was served the charge Monday, also was sentenced by Tiffin Municipal Court Judge Mark Repp to 90 days in jail. The jail time, however, was suspended.

Bryant had been the driver of a vehicle that ran a stop sign at the intersection of TR 112 and CR 7 Nov. 27, 2012, and then collided with an SUV driven by Kristopher Stafford, 28, of Fostoria.

The crash killed Bryant’s fiance Bethany Garner, 25, of Fostoria, and their children Skylar Bryant, 7, of Fostoria, and Angel Bryant, 4, also of Fostoria. Another child, Aireana Bryant, who was 5 years old at the time of the crash, was seriously injured.

According to court documents, as part of his sentence, Bryant’s license was suspended for one year and he was ordered to pay a $250 fine.
