Elections chief to resign

Board of Elections Director Andrea Carroll is resigning her position as of Jan. 3 as reported at the Seneca County Democratic Executive Committee meeting Thursday.

Jim Fruth, a member of the Board of Elections, read Carroll’s letter to the committee, stating she had accepted a position with a local private company.

The executive committee will have to decide whether to hire a new Democratic director or support the promotion of current Republican Deputy Director James Ehrman, as a Democrat must serve in one of the positions.

The group did not set a meeting to decide on the matter.

Secretary Karl Erbland spoke about Organizing For Action and encouraged members to become involved. Originally Organizing For America, the group changed its strategy and now is supporting issues rather than candidates, he said.

Erbland encouraged committee members to get involved with the organization, including signing up for fellowship programs. The programs train individuals how to organize and spread information on an individual and group level.
