Leadership forum planned for food, farm community

COLUMBUS – The inaugural Ohio Farm and Food Leadership Forum is planned for Dec. 4 at the Hyatt Regency Columbus.

The forum, aimed at improving communities, is to include members of farm and food organizations, civic groups, business, government and other sectors to focus on four themes: general leadership skills, developing boards of directors/trustees, technology and current policy issues.

More than 20 organizations are cooperating on the meeting and will be encouraging their members to attend, but the session is open to any interested individuals.

Registrations will be taken online at bit.ly/Hf1uRv. Cost for individuals is $75. Deadline to register is Nov. 27.

Sessions include identifying leaders, generational leadership differences, structuring efficient boards of directors, constructive communication, decision making, succession planning and running effective meetings.

Keynote speaker is Mark Sanborn, a former Ohio and National FFA president who is now a nationally recognized speaker on leadership skill training and helping individuals and organizations excel. In addition, he is a past president of the National Speakers Association and one of the youngest inductees into its Hall of Fame.

Among the other presenters are Jeff King of the OSU Leadership Center and Margee Wolff of the American Farm Bureau Federation.

The event is to take place in conjunction with the opening day of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation’s 95th annual meeting.
