Walkers wanted for Alzheimer’s event
The Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter, and a local committee are to stage Tiffin’s 15th annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 28 at Tiffin University’s Heminger Center.
Registration and check-in begin at 9 a.m.
David and Jan Shelton of Tiffin are serving as honorary chairs of this event to raise awareness and collect donations that support local programs and services for people with Alzheimer’s Disease, their families and caregivers. The committee includes employees of Elmwood at the Shawhan, Autumnwood Care Center and St. Francis Home, US Bank and a few other businesses.
“Walk to End Alzheimer’s is our signature event to raise awareness and funds,” said Nick Vargas, development and communication coordinator at the Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter. “Funds raised will provide local care and support services to the estimated 1,292 people in Seneca County living with Alzheimer’s Disease and their 3,876 caregivers, while also contributing to advancing critically-needed research.”
Last year, 25 teams comprised of 191 participants raised more than $22,000 at the Tiffin walk. This year, the walk committee has set a goal of $25,000.
