Motorcycle rider dies in crash on SR 53

An accident involving a car and two motorcycles on SR 53, just south of SR 103, claimed the life of a Tiffin man Saturday night.

According to a release from Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, Todd S. Williams, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

He was driving a 2010 Harley-Davidson southbound on SR 53 and appeared to be passing other traffic, the release states. He struck a northbound 1998 Saturn driven by James A. Meadows, 32, of Larue, head-on in the northbound lane, the release states.

A second motorcycle, a 2013 Harley-Davidson, was being driven southbound by Daniel W. Warren, 43, of Tiffin. It struck the left rear of the car in the northbound lane of travel.

Meadows and Warren were taken to Wyandot Memorial Hospital, according to the release.

A Wyandot County spokesman said Warren then was taken by Life Flight to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. He was in fair condition Monday evening, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Williams and Warren knew each other and were traveling together, the sheriff’s office spokesman said.

The accident was reported at 9:04 p.m. Saturday. Personnel from McCutchenville Fire Department, Sycamore EMS and Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office responded.

Traffic was detoured after the accident.

It remained under investigation Monday evening, the sheriff’s office spokesman said.
