Man mourns loss of 3 daughters

Ricky Huey, the father of three young girls who died Sunday in a house fire, said his last memory of 5-year-old Stormie, 4-year-old Trinitie and 3-year-old Sunshine was a recent visit with the girls to a park.

‘We had a good time,” Huey said. “The next thing you know, this weekend, I get a call on Sunday morning that they were going to the hospital because they were in a house fire.”

The girls, three of six people who died in a trailer fire at Highland Mobile Home Park Sunday morning, always were happy and never argued over toys, he said. They always played together and never had a problem sharing.

Huey, who lives in Fostoria, said he never could have imagined anything so tragic to happen.

“It’s crazy,” he said. “I never expected anything like this to happen. It’s a lot to take on at once.”

Huey said although he wishes the girls were still with him, he knows they are now in a better place.

“I wish they were still here with me, but some things you can’t change,” Huey said.

Huey’s fiance, Mary McBeth, described Huey as a good father.

“He was a very good father to his girls,” she said. “It’s devastating.”
