CASA training slated
CASA of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot Counties is to hold the organizational meeting for the new class of volunteers at 5 p.m. Thursday in the main office, 21 Court St.
Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers are needed to represent “at risk” children who are victims of abuse and neglect. CASA volunteers come from all walks of life with a variety of professional, educational and ethnic backgrounds.
CASA volunteers are taught effective advocacy techniques for children and are educated about specific topics ranging from child sexual abuse to early childhood development and adolescent behavior. They research the child’s circumstances in the case and report this information to the court.
The volunteer’s work helps to support the court’s decision concerning the child’s future.
To request an application or to inquire about volunteering, call CASA in Tiffin at (419) 448-1442, in Fremont at (419) 355-1442 and in Upper Sandusky at (419) 209-1442.
