Tiffin man acquitted of sex charges

A Tiffin man was acquitted of sex-related charges this week following a two-day jury trial.

Thomas M. Ballash, 22, of Tiffin, had been indicted on charges of rape, a first-degree felony, and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony, in October 2012. Ballash’s indictment had alleged he raped and engaged in sexual conduct with a 15-year-old in August 2012.

He was found not guilty of the charges Tuesday in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley’s courtroom, according to court documents.
