Church to serve barbecue

BASCOM – Saints Patrick and Andrew Parish is to serve a barbecue chicken and ham dinner 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 25 in the air-conditioned parish hall in Bascom. The dinner includes chicken or ham, potatoes, applesauce, green beans, roll, dessert and drink. The half chicken or full ham slice dinners are $8. For a quarter of chicken or half slice of ham, the cost is $5. Carry outs are to be available.

Weekend festival offers food, music, movies

NEW WASHINGTON – St. Bernard Parish in New Washington is to have its summer festival 5-10 p.m. Aug. 24 and noon-10 p.m. Aug. 25. Following Saturday’s 4 p.m. Mass, the festival is to open with a beer garden, musical entertainment, a barbecue dinner, children’s games and a photo booth. Outdoor double-feature movies are to start at 7 p.m.

Sunday, the 30th annual Dutchtown 5K is to depart at 10:30 a.m. Barbecue chicken or ham dinners are to be served noon-6 p.m. with drive-through and carry-out dinners available. Bingo is planned for 1-4 p.m., dulcimer music at 4 p.m. and the New Washington Band at 7 p.m. Games, raffles, hourly drawings, crafts and refreshments are to take place all day. Win $1,000 at the reverse raffle.

Catholic singer to give free concert Sept. 22

Singer and recording artist Michael R. O’Brien is to perform at 7 p.m. Sept. 22 in St. Joseph Church, Tiffin. Admission is free with a ticket available at St. Mary Parish Office, 75 S. Sandusky Street (in school building).
