Indian gathering in Upper this weekend

UPPER SANDUSKY – The sixth annual Native American Gathering is being hosted by the Mingo Confederation of North America today and Sunday at Harrison Smith Park, Upper Sandusky. Grand entry is at noon each day.

The event includes American Indian dancing and singing with the ever-moving beat of native drums. Dancers in full regalia from many Indian nations are to attend, according to a news release. Specialty, intertribal and demonstration dances are to performed throughout the day.

New this year is Indian storyteller Jim Caldwell, who plans to tell stories for adults and children about Indian culture and legend.

The Settlers of Yesteryear, a local re-enactment group, is to have displays set up showing life as European settlers lived in the 1800s.

Vendors are to be selling related items and food.

Admission is $3 per person or $10 for a family with four or more people.
