Driver leads police on short vehicle pursuit, escapes on foot later

A driver fled from a traffic stop Friday afternoon after first leading police on a short vehicle pursuit.

Tiffin Police Officer Steve Niedermier said police had attempted to stop a driver for a routine traffic stop in the 200 block of North Washington Street just before 4 p.m.

The vehicle failed to stop and then led police on a pursuit north through Sixes Corner and then south on South Sandusky Street.

After turning on Apple Street, the driver then fled from his vehicle on Jackson Street, Niedermier said.

He said police were unable to catch the driver, but they do have a suspect.

As of Friday night, no arrests had been made.
