Committee suggests change to engineer job
Tiffin City Council’s Personnel and Labor Relations Committee met Monday to discuss legislation to change the city engineer’s job description.
Interim city engineer Mario Livojevic accepted the head engineer position Friday. The city is to continue the search for an assistant city engineer.
Mayor Aaron Montz said the necesssary change was eliminating the need for the engineer to also have a degree in surveying.
The change was suggested due to the lack of qualifed applications.
“It’s something that the person can go back later and get licensure,” said Montz. “There are very few that are coming out of engineering school that are dually licensed.”
The committee allowed Law Director Brent Howard to complete an ordinance to be voted on at a city council meeting.
