Stagnolia pleads not guilty to drug, taxation charges

The owner of Zig Stag, who recently was indicted on drug- and taxation-related charges, appeared in court this week, where he entered a plea of not guilty.

Shawn G. Stagnolia, 36, of Tiffin, who faces charges of aggravated possession of drugs, distribution of tobacco products with intent to avoid payment of tax, possession of untaxed tobacco products, failure to file withholding return and permitting drug abuse, appeared in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley’s courtroom Tuesday, according to court documents.

A search warrant had been conducted at his business, at 20 E. Market St., in February. Several items, including numerous containers of suspected K2, green vegetation, a digital scale and a marijuana pipe, were found.

Stagnolia was arrested June 20 after a Seneca County grand jury indicted him on the charges. He later posted bond. That bond was continued Tuesday, according to court documents.
