Boy on bike strikes moving vehicle

A teenager riding a bicycle was injured when he struck a car on Circular Street Saturday.

According to a Tiffin Police Department report, the accident in the 200 block of Circular Street was reported at 5:06 p.m. Saturday.

Officer Corey Galyk said Kenneth E. Derr, 13, of Alvada, was riding his bicycle, which had no brakes. When Derr came out of an alley, he didn’t yield for traffic, didn’t stop and struck the side of a car that was southwest-bound on Circular Street, he said.

Galyk said Derr was taken by Tiffin EMS to Mercy Tiffin Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

He said Michael A. Smith, 32, of Findlay, the driver of the 2000 Pontiac Grand Am, was not injured.
