Updated 4:45 p.m.: Crash victims identified

A Willard woman was killed and her daughter was seriously injured after a two-vehicle accident involving a semi-truck this morning at SR 587 and US 224.

According to a release from the State Highway Patrol, Victoria N. McKelvey, 38, had been traveling southbound on SR 587 in a 2003 Pontiac Vibe when she ran the stop sign and struck a westbound semi-truck on US 224 driven by Bryan K. Hughes, 34, of Oak Harbor.

McKelvey, who was thrown from the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. She had not been wearing a seat belt, according to the release. Her daughter, Electa McKelvey, 7, also of Willard, who was in the backseat of the vehicle, was transported by Life Flight to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.

According to the release, Electa was in a child booster seat, but it was not properly secured at the time of the crash.

A state highway patrol trooper at the scene of the accident said Huges declined treatment at the scene.
