Three hurt in two accidents Sunday; trailers targeted
Seneca County Sheriff’s Office personnel investigated two accidents that left three people injured Sunday.
An accident at North SR 101 and North CR 15 was reported to the sheriff’s office at 9:28 a.m.
Deputy Denny Wilkinson said Jenna M. Kizer, 22, of Tiffin, was driving a 2007 Ford Focus northbound on SR 101 in Clinton Township when she went left of center. Her vehicle struck a two-wheeled trailer that was being pulled by a southbound Mercury Mariner.
The driver of the Mariner, Kevin J. Crum, 56, of Republic, and his wife, Linda, were not injured, Wilkinson said. Kizer was taken by Tiffin EMS to Mercy Tiffin Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.
Wilkinson said the crash destroyed the trailer and the lawn mower it was hauling, and Kizer’s vehicle was totaled. Crum’s vehicle had gone into the ditch trying to avoid Kizer’s vehicle, he said.
The roadway reopened at 10:35 a.m., according to a sheriff’s office report. Tiffin EMS and Clinton fire personnel assisted at the scene of the accident, which was under investigation Sunday night.
The second crash was reported at North SR 19 and East CR 38 at 12:45 p.m. Wilkinson said a woman ran a stop sign and ran into a dump truck pulling a trailer.
“It rolled the van over,” he said.
Wilkinson said Republic EMS transported two children with non-life-threatening injuries to Mercy Tiffin Hospital. The driver of the van, the driver of the truck and two dogs that were in the trailer were not injured, he said.
A driver was cited with a stop sign violation, according to a sheriff’s office report.
Republic fire and EMS and the Echo unit assisted at the scene. Information about the people involved in the crash was not available Sunday night.
