New superintendent for Clyde-Green Springs to start Aug. 1

New Clyde-Green Springs Superintendent David Stubblebine is to assume his duties Aug. 1. Working along side him will be Joe Letterhos, whose resignation as the high school’s assistant principal was accepted Monday evening; he takes on the duties of the director of curriculum and instruction, eliminating the position of assistant superintendent.

Letterhos thanked Principal Joe Webb, the staff and the students for his experiences and said he is excited about his opportunities.

Clyde-Green Springs Board of Education members approved the Clyde Public Library budget and the library’s request for a resolution of necessity as the school taxing authority for a replacement tax levy to be placed on the Nov. 5 ballot.

Community for the Arts liaison Nancy Greenslade announced the performance by a Woody Hayes impersonator at Clyde High School has been moved up to 4 p.m. Sept. 14, preceding an Ohio State football game.

Approved Treasurer Joyce DuPont’s financial report.

Approved final 2013 appropriations and fiscal year 2014 temporary appropriations.

Approved the purchase of fleet insurance through Trident Insurance for $42,028, with coverage from July 1 to June 30, 2014.

Recommended the authorization of payment to Vicki Newsom for unused vacation time; she is to retire July 31.

Approved recalling the outstanding bonds and reissuing them at a lower rate with a savings to the taxpayers and no cost to the district.

Accepted the resignation of Rachel Gibbs as intervention specialist for retirement purposes after 29 years with the district.

Accepted the resignation of Laura Kagy as assistant superintendent and interim superintendent effective July 31.

Accepted the resignation of Ann Kauble as summer Ohio Graduation Test intervention teacher for science.

Employed the 2013 elementary summer school program teachers from June 10 through July 26 to be funded by the 21st Century grant.

Approved staff personnel actions.

Employed classified substitutes for next school year on a one-year limited contract.

Employed substitute teachers for next school year on a one-year limited contract.

Employed the non-certified persons for extra job duties for next year.

Approved several board policies and regulations.

Approved the recommended job descriptions for dean of students at McPherson Middle School and director of curriculum and instruction at Clyde-Green Springs High School.

Joined the Ohio Coalition for Equity and Adequacy of School Funding to support public schools at a cost of $1,300.

Approved the agreement with the Seneca County Board of Developmental Disabilities for students attending the School of Opportunity.

Approved a one-year negotiated agreement with the Clyde-Green Springs School Local 415 Ohio Association of Public School Employees through June 30, 2014, which was ratified by OAPSE members June 14.

Approved the memorandum of understanding with Clyde-Green Springs Local 415 Ohio Association of Public Schools Employees to re-classify the general clerk to a secretary at Green Springs Elementary School effective next school year.

Approved student handbooks.

Approved a salary freeze for administrative and supervisory employees due to the financial condition of the district.

Approved the district picking up the total amount of employee contributions to STRS Ohio and shall be treated as mandatory salary reduction from the contract salary.

Approved the district picking up the total amount of employee contributions to STRS Ohio and shall be paid as a fringe benefit in addition to the contract salary.

Accepted gifts and donations to schools in the district.

Clyde-Green Springs school board is to meet next at 6 p.m. July 22.
