Man pleads guilty in sword stabbing assault case

A Fostoria man indicted in May on a felonious assault charge for stabbing another man with a sword pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of aggravated assault this week.

Adam W. Copsey, 27, is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to the fourth-degree felony, according to court documents.

Copsey was arrested after he used a sword to stab Kenneth A. Myers III, 28, of Tiffin, in the chest during an argument at a North Countyline Street residence in April.

The sword had gone through Myers’ left lung, nicked his heart and punctured his right lung. He was transported to ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital and later transported to the Toledo Hospital.

Copsey also was ordered to have no contact with Myers, according to court documents.
