TU exceeds campaign goal by $2.5M
The $12 million goal for Tiffin University’s campaign, “Share the Pride, Build on Tradition,” concluded Wednesday with a victory celebration.
The total raised was $14,583,012 – 21 percent above the set goal.
“We are very proud,” President Paul Marion said. “It can be a challenge to raise money during a time when the economy is stagnant.”
“We are very pleased that the campaign was successful and we appreciate the support of our many alumni and other donors,” Marion said.
The campaign began in 2004 with the quiet phase and was announced to the public in 2010.
The campaign consisted of three components, $9.4 million to go toward the construction of the Heminger Center, $1.6 million for campus improvements and $1 million for endowed scholarships.
Ron Schumacher, vice president for Development and Public Affairs, said the campaign’s success also was due to Michael Grandillo, who was vice president for development and public affairs at the start of the campaign.
“(Grandillo) was (important) to the campaign with moving it from a plan to what stands today,” Schumacher said.
Several representatives who aided in the campaign also were present at the celebration Thursday. Representatives included student athletes, corporate partners, alumni, student performing artists, board of trustees, foundation sponsors, parents, student leaders, TU staff and faculty.
Next for TU is building its endowment, Schumacher said.
“We want to give people a chance to take a break until the next initiative,” he said. “But we’re not there yet.”
