House passes court consolidation bill

COLUMBUS House Bill 141, legislation creating the Tiffin-Fostoria Municipal Court, was passed today by the Ohio House of Representatives by a vote of 90-1. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Rex Damschroder, R-Fremont, consolidates the two municipal courts with an election for judge of the newly created court to be in November. The physical locations of both current courts in Tiffin and Fostoria would remain, with the elected judge traveling between both locations. The bill will be referred to a Senate committee for consideration next week, according to a release.
