Glass art show booked

FINDLAY – Artist Beth Ziss is celebrating 25 years of glass art with a new show, “Glass Fusions – Texture, Color, Light,” at the Findlay Art League, 117 W. Crawford St., Findlay.

Running June 8-15, the show is to feature glass artwork, including jewelry, art glass bowls, collectible Depression glass works, new fused glass portraits and more.

Ziss began her art career exploring many types of media, including oil painting, acrylic painting and pottery.

After early experimentation with glass, she found her passion. Her career in glass has produced unique stained glass panels, mosaics and wearable and functional art.

“I love the way glass can be transparent, translucent, opaque, jewel-like, luminous, radiant and reflective. The variety of colors and the way glass can be manipulated is endless,” Ziss said.

Having won numerous awards, Ziss also was chosen to display glassworks in the Toledo Museum of Art. She is a member of the Findlay Art League, and has her work on display at the The Gaslight Gallery in Findlay, Angelwood Gallery in Grand Rapids and the Arts Castle in Delaware, Ohio.

Joining her in the show will be eight family members displaying glass-related photography, jewelry, and floral design.

“Glass Fusions – Texture, Color, Light” is to have its opening reception 5-9 p.m. June 7. Complimentary hors d’oeurves will be served, and a living statue is to be available for entertainment and photographs.

Gallery hours for the remaining show dates are noon-6 p.m.
