Color run to honor deacon

The inaugural Deacon Color Run is to begin at 10 a.m. May 18 in Tiffin’s Hedges-Boyer Park. This run/walk is in memory of Deacon Dan Scherger, who died of a brain tumor nearly two years ago.

The Deacon Color Run is planned as a unique experience that will be less about speed and more about enjoying a color-crazy day with friends and family. Participants begin the run with white shirts (included with registration) and end with their shirt plastered with colors administered along the route. Prizes and certificates will be awarded, too.

To register, send a $15 entry fee (checks to St. Joseph Church Deacon Color Run) to St. Joseph Church, 36 Melmore St., Tiffin, OH 44883. Include your full name, age, phone number and T-shirt size.

More information is available from Dave Kraft, by email at or by calling (419) 618-9621.

Proceeds are to be used by Tiffin Serra Club for scholarships for altar servers, one of the programs Deacon Dan was involved with at St. Joseph Church. The color run is a service project organized by the sophomore class of Calvert Catholic Schools.
