Brothers killed in accident
Two brothers were killed in an accident Thursday afternoon at TR 79 and TR 8 in Reed Township, law enforcement said.
Trooper Matt Manly of the State Highway Patrol said Phillip L. Bollinger, 17, and Dillon Bollinger, 15, were killed in the crash. They were from Republic.
Phillip Bollinger had been driving a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier north on TR 79 when he failed to yield at the stop sign and his vehicle was struck on its driver’s side by a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The Cavalier then struck a tree, Manly said.
The Trailblazer, which had been eastbound on TR 8, was driven by William Bartley, 47, of Republic. Bartley and three passengers in the vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries and were treated at the scene.
Manly said all involved in the accident had been wearing seat belts. Alcohol is not considered a factor in the crash, and it remains under investigation, according to the release.
A Seneca County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said Attica fire and EMS, Republic fire and EMS, Bloomville fire and EMS and the Echo unit responded to the crash, which was reported at 2:18 p.m.
