Unemployment rates down

Seneca and surrounding counties all saw a drop in unemployment rates in March, according to the Civilian Labor Force Estimates from Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

Seneca County was down from 8.1 percent in February to 7.8 in March, while Ohio’s unemployment fell a half-percent to 7.3 percent.

Huron and Ottawa counties still have the highest unemployment rates, but both counties saw the most significant decreases from February to March.

Sandusky, Hancock and Wyandot counties all dropped about a half percent in unemployment in March.

Huron County is the only surrounding county to have a higher unemployment in March 2013 than it did in March 2012. The rest of the area’s jobless rates are down from a year ago.
