Kalmbach fire started in grain auger
UPPER SANDUSKY A fire reported Sunday night at Kalmbach Feeds in Upper Sandusky started in an auger at the facility, Upper Sandusky Fire Chief Bob Orr said.
According to fire reports, an employee of Kalmbach Feeds reported a fire in the head house just after 9 p.m. When firefighters arrived on scene, little smoke was showing from the top of the building. The fire was then found to be contained to an auger, Orr said.
The cause remains under investigation, Orr said. A damage estimate was unavailable Monday afternoon.
Firefighters from Carey, Sycamore and Wharton fire departments assisted at the scene, according to the report.
Orr said fire personnel were at the facility, located at 7148 SH 199, until about midnight.
No injuries were reported.
