Fostoria readies for fund shortage

FOSTORIA – Fostoria Board of Education Monday announced the preparation they are to take due to uncertainty in funding.

The concern for Fostoria is if they have to spend additional money on some programs, and then have to use money for new programs, that current programs could potentially cause limit resources for current programs.

This comes with new funding proposals from the state in which Fostoria took nearly a $1 million loss from the first to the second funding proposals. The funding reductions could end up affecting Project SUCCESS (a K-3 after-school program), ABLE (Adult Basic Literacy Education), Title I Funding and the Alternative Challenge Grant.

In other matters, the board:

Approved the resignation of Tera Matz as Riley Elementary principal, in order to become the FIES principal starting in August.

Approved contract renewal of Thomas Grine as the FJSHS principal.

Approved the resignation of Joe Munoz as assistant baseball coach.

Approved hiring Jay Hossler as assistant baseball coach.
