Councilman fined for disturbance

A Tiffin councilman was ordered to pay a $250 fine after he pleaded no contest to persistent disorderly conduct Friday morning.

Tyler J. Shuff, 27, of Tiffin, who serves as an at-large councilman, also was sentenced to 30 days in jail on the fourth-degree misdemeanor, but the jail time was suspended on the condition he has no criminal conduct for the next year, a Tiffin Municipal Court spokeswoman said.

Charges of menacing, a fourth-degree misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a minor misdemeanor, were dismissed at Shuff’s cost, she said.

Shuff had been issued the charges after police responded to his apartment twice Feb. 3 on the report of loud music, according to police reports. The second time, Shuff would not answer the door.

Police reports also state Shuff allegedly threatened the neighbor who reported the loud music.
