April 27 is deadline for H-L online auction

As the district of Hopewell-Loudon Schools prepares to move to its new building in late May, administrators and staff have set up an online auction to sell unneeded items.

The auction went online April 4, and there are more than 400 items up for auction. Pictures can be found on the auction link from the school’s website,

The online auction is active until 10 p.m. April 27. Items are organized by year so they can be seen easily.

More than 700 trophies are up for auction and are to be on display at the Athletic Booster’s Reverse Raffle April 27 at Meadowbrook Park. Tickets are $100. People who wish to attend for the auction only can buy a meal-only ticket for $15.

“Any item that belongs to an individual is being returned to the individual or their family. Trophies for big wins such as winning a state tournament are not being auctioned off,” Superintendent Nichole Jiran said. “We found items that we didn’t even know we had.”

All trophies were catalogued and photographed for the auction.

“The money raised will be used for preserving our class composites and creating the display for those photos in the new building, purchasing new sports banners for the new gym, and for creating a display for two school bells,” she said.

The money is to go into the Heritage Committee account.

“If there is any money left after the three projects are complete, we will be creating historical displays in the new building,” she said.

For people who do not have computer access, Jiran said they are welcome to call the school to set up an appointment to visit the school for help with navigating the site and the bidding process.

Jiran expressed her excitement for the move that will take place starting May 28.

“The new building is just beautiful. From watching it first as a construction site and turning into a building, I have noticed minor details that we have taken for granted,” she said.

The public will be able to take a tour of the new building 9 a.m.-noon May 18.

A live auction of items in the old building is to take place at 10 a.m. June 8.
