Tiffin man guilty of assault

A man is awaiting sentencing after being found guilty on two counts of felonious assault.

James A. Hayes III, 41, of Tiffin, was found guilty of the second-degree felony charges Thursday following a jury trial in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley’s courtroom.

Hayes was indicted on the charges in September after he stabbed Brian M. Armbruster, 47, of Tiffin, during a fight in a parking lot at Stiney’s Three Oaks Tavern, 255 Second Ave., in February 2012.

Armbruster had to be taken by Life Flight to Toledo hospital for his injuries.

“I’m just glad that it’s over and the victim gets some justice through this,” Det. Shawn Vallery of the Tiffin Police Department said.

Vallery had served as the lead investigator in the case.

“I’m glad everything worked out for them and that justice was served,” he said.

Hayes’ bond was revoked Thursday and a pre-sentence investigation was ordered.
