Panel discusses job fair

With less than two months to go, county commissioners continue to seek employers and potential employees to participate at the job fair.

Any business interested in the fair can contact Seneca Industrial and Economic Development Corp., Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Services or the commissioners’ office, Commissioner Holly Stacy said.

“It doesn’t matter about industry type or anything,” she said. “All businesses are open to be part of that.”

She said deadline to register is about a month before the fair, which is May 13.

Stacy said students also are to be invited to the fair, but the details still are being worked out.

Also at Thursday’s meeting, commissioners continued discussions about whether Fostoria’s Community Development Block Grant money is combined with Seneca County’s.

Board President Jeff Wagner said Fostoria Mayor Eric Keckler seemed to think that at least a portion of Fostoria’s CDBG money would be independent of the county’s.

Jill Griffin, executive director of Seneca County Regional Planning Commission, said from her understanding, all of Fostoria’s CDBG money will be coming from the county.

Griffin said she will know the actual amount in a couple weeks.

Also at the meeting, commissioners received two sealed bids for the energy-saving HVAC and control system.

The board received a bid from Air Force One for $611,760 for the project and a bid from Warner Mechanical Corporation for $529,600.

The bids will be referred to Palmer Energy, which will make a recommendation to commissioners.

In other business, the board approved a supplemental appropriation of $884.29 into the Clerk of Courts’ contract services line.

In new business, the board approved:

A resolution revising journal 89, page 66 from Feb. 14, 2013; authorizing Seneca County to participate in the FY 13 Community Housing Improvement Program and authorizing Wagner to sign all documentation related to this project.

A resolution approving the recommendation of the Tax Incentive Review Council’s findings regarding the enterprise zone and community reinvestment area tax abatements for companies located in the county for the Tax Year 2012.
