Scutch man shot, killed

A McCutchenville man was killed after he was shot in the face Friday morning at a home on Fourth Avenue.

Thomas A. Nally, 24, was found dead by police after a 911 caller reported around 6:07 a.m. a person had a possible gunshot wound at 199 Fourth Ave., according to a release from the Tiffin Police Department.

Upon arrival at the residence, police found Nally and three other men inside the residence.

One of the men, Damian B. Magers, 21, of Tiffin, has been charged with reckless homicide, a third-degree felony, according to the release.

He is being held in Seneca County Jail.

Tiffin Police Chief Fred Stevens said Magers is being charged with reckless homicide because the incident could have been prevented. Police said they are not considering the incident accidental.

The other two men were released from police custody after being questioned, according to the release.

They still may face charges, officers said.

Tiffin Police Chief Fred Stevens said Magers and Nally had been visiting the other men at the residence when the shooting occurred. He said police are still investigating what they were doing at the time of the shooting, but he said the men had been drinking.

No other injuries were reported.

The gun, which was confiscated by police when they arrived at the residence, is owned by the homeowner. He was not home at the time of the shooting.

An autopsy on Nally is scheduled today at the Lucas County Coroner’s Office.
