Explosion, fire ruled suspicious
The cause of an enclosed trailer explosion and fire on Miami Street Friday evening has been ruled suspicious.
The trailer that exploded was located behind Machine Works, 604 Miami St.
Chief William Ennis of Tiffin Fire Rescue Division said when the engine arrived at the scene, the trailer was on fire and was heavily damaged due to the explosion.
The trailer’s roof was forced off. The chief said the damage was contained to the trailer and its contents, and the loss was extensive.
Eric Runion, who owns Machine Works, said a 1935 Studebaker was in the trailer.
Ennis labeled the incident suspicious and said there were no suspects.
“It’s too early. … We can’t identify a cause right now,” he said.
Ennis said he was unaware of any injuries.
Tiffin Police Department is assisting the fire department in the investigation of the incident, which was reported around 8:30 p.m. Friday. Anyone with information can call the police department at (419) 447-2323.
“Any help would be appreciated,” Ennis said.
