Donations continue for Attica family
ATTICA -The Bondy-Hamilton family of Attica still is being remembered after a fatal house fire in November.
Representatives of SafE Homes for Families, AVR Fire Department, Republic-Scipio Fire Department, Seneca East Local Schools and RR Donnelley met Thursday to present a donation at the AVR Fire Station in Attica.
RR Donnelley, a print and digital communications company of Willard, presented a $2,675 check to the SafE Homes for Families Fund, made possible through donations and fundraising of RR Donnelley employees.
SafE Homes for Families Fund was set up in memory of the Bondy-Hamilton family who were killed in a fatal house fire Nov. 27.
According to a release from RR Donnelley, fundraising was possible by the production of the 2012 Southern Living Cooking for Christmas book, a special edition presented by Dillard’s. Dillard’s donated copies to RR Donnelley and proceeds from those sales were designated for the SafE Homes for Families Fund, according to the release.
“It is our hope that the SafE Homes for Families Fund will to be able to continue our mission to provide smoke detectors and alarms for families, the elderly and any member of the community that are in need for years to come,” AVR Fire Chief Brett Meyers said.
Meyers said it is important to have functional smoke detectors.
“We have went out on several calls and replaced alarms for the elderly,” he said.
To donate, visit Sutton Bank in Attica or Republic Banking Co. in Republic. Checks should have “SafE Homes for Families” written in the memo line.
