County panel eyes planned replacement
The county has received three bids to replace the door at the Public Defense Building.
County administrator Stacy Wilson said the lowest bid the county received was $3,546 to replace the door and have the door be handicapped accessible.
The county is expected to pay for the door by using grant money from the Solid Waste District for using recycled content for the door.
Also at the meeting, commissioners received an update from Wilson about the bonus for suggestions program.
Board President Jeff Wagner said there should be some language in the draft that says once the $25,000 pot has run out, the program would be over for the year.
Commissioner Fred Zoeller said County Prosecutor Derek DeVine suggested any elected official should be ineligible for the program because they should already be looking for potential savings.
“It could potentially (save) the county in excess of $2,500-$5,000, if the individuals can find the savings,” Zoeller said. “It’s a tough program because we’ve already squeezed this lemon as tight as we can get it, but it’s always helpful to have everyone look at it.”
Commissioner Holly Stacy gave an update on Tuesday’s new commissioner training program.
She said she learned about Sunshine laws, working with budgets, employee relations and more about the services the County Commissioners’ Association of Ohio has to offer.
In new business, the board approved:
A supplemental appropriation of $87,114.51 for the General Fund.
A resolution to support approving and authorizing commissioners to participate in re-application for a Local Government Innovation Fund grant through the state for a shared facility/shared space study.
A resolution to support approving and authorizing commissioners to participate in re-application for LGIF funding for a natural gas conversion/shared fueling station study.
A resolution accepting the resignation of Brian Lavell as an ECHO unit paramedic, effective Jan. 17.
A resolution authorizing an amendment to the agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation for the ARRA 2009 Rural Transit Grant Program Capital Project.
A resolution for the approval of extension for the CDBG FY 2011 Small Cities Formula Program Community Development Block Grant.
A resolution authorizing the county to participate in the Community Housing Improvement Program for this fiscal year and authorizing Wagner to sign all documentation related to this project.
A resolution setting time, date and place to receive sealed bids at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, at the commissioners’ office for bridge rehabilitation projects.
