Lincoln program at museum Saturday
The American Civil War Museum of Ohio is to host Roger Jenot portraying “Abe Lincoln: The Road to Becoming President” 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the museum, 217 S. Washington St.
A native of Carey, Jenot discovered his passion for Abraham Lincoln as an American history teacher at Carey High School for 30 years. Because his students and his wife Judy thought he closely resembled the 16th U.S. president, they encouraged him to portray the patriarch.
Over the years, Jenot has taken the role of Lincoln for countless programs in schools, libraries and civic organizations. His love and appreciation for Lincoln spurs him to continue educating through his programs. He has visited numerous locations across the country associated with Lincoln to enhance his knowledge and understanding.
Jenot is a member of the American Civil War Museum of Ohio and the Johnson’s Island Civil War Round Table. The public is invited to attend and learn why President Lincoln did not win the popular vote for his presidency in 1860, and to hear of the trials and tribulations on his path to becoming one of the nation’s most recognized and memorable presidents.
For more information, call the museum at (419) 455-9551. For this event, admission to the museum has been reduced to $4 for adults and $2 for children.
If any level of snow emergency should arise, the event will be canceled.
Regular hours at the museum are noon-4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
