FELC gets OSS grant for disabled access

The Franciscan Earth Literacy Center on the St. Francis Community campus has been approved for a $3,652 funding grant from Ottawa, Seneca, Sandusky Joint Solid Waste Management District.

Funds are to be used to buy recycled materials to build a deck on Little Portion Green, the center’s passive solar/straw bale house project.

The deck is to have a ramp which would allow access to the house for people with disabilities.

Ground was broken in 2010 to build the house, a demonstration facility for sustainable living. FELC is a ministry of the Sisters of St. Francis.
