Damschroder to lead committee

COLUMBUS-Speaker of the Ohio House William Batchelder, R-Medina, appointed State Rep. Rex Damschroder, R-Fremont, to serve as chair of the Transportation, Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee.

Damschroder also is to serve as a member of the state and local government committee and the agriculture and natural resources committee.

“It is an honor to be reappointed chairman of the Transportation, Public Safety, and Homeland Security committee,” Damschroder said in a statement. “Public safety is the government’s No. 1 responsibility and I look forward to chairing this important committee. Additionally, I am pleased to serve on Agriculture and Natural Resources, which oversees Ohio’s largest industry and State and Local Government, which covers many key issues dealing with how our government operates.”

Damschroder is currently serving his second term representing House District 88, which includes Sandusky County and most of Seneca County.

He was chairman of the transportation committee when he served in the house from 1995-2003.
