Columbian presented check

Cindy Oberholtzer, store manager of the local Exxon Mobile, presented Columbian High School Principal Doug Hartenstein with a grant check from the Exxon Mobile Educational Alliance program for $500.

Funds are to be used for maintenance and support in the areas of math and/or science.

 

TMS to host conferences

Tiffin Middle School is to host parent teacher conferences 4:30-8:30 p.m. Feb. 13 and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 17 at 103 Shepherd Drive.

Pre-registration open for Old Fort elementary

OLD FORT — Old Fort kindergarten pre-registration for the 2017-18 school year is taking place.

Students must be five-years old by Aug. 1. This includes members of the Old Fort district as well as those who may be considering open enrolling to Old Fort.

Kindergarten screening dates are April 27 and 28 by appointment only.

High school teams to compete in area Brain Game

BOWLING GREEN — Teams from 40 local high school are to compete in the 2016-17 Bowling Green State University Brain Game, airing on WBGU-TV 27.

Retired teachers to award scholarship

The Seneca County Retired Teachers Association is again to award a monetary grant to a high school senior residing in Seneca County who plans to pursue a career in the field of education.

Application information has been sent to area high school guidance counselors.Applications are to be submitted by April 11. The winner is to then be announced after May 15.

Bonds issued to help with repairs

NEW RIEGEL — New Riegel Local School District is to issue municipal bonds in $5,000 increments to fund the repairs of the K-12 building.

Realtor group welcomes Herzog, Shockley

Firelands Association of Realtors welcomed Janet Herzog and Marcia Shockley to its board of Directors in January. Firelands Association of Realtors promotes the advocacy of home ownership and community involvement through its members in Erie, Huron, Ottawa, Seneca and Sandusky counties and has mor ethan 600 members and affiliate members.

Herzog and Shockley were elected in November for the upcoming 2017-2019 terms. FAOR is affiliated with the Ohio Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.Herzog and Shockley have been members of FAOR since 2012.

Herzog holds a brokers license and works with Coldwell Banker Tri Pro Realty. She is on the grievance, scholarship and golf outing committees at Firelands Association of Realtors. Herzog also is an active board member of Tiffin Rotary and an ambassador at the Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Services.

Shockley is a Realtor with Select Realty Group and the chair of the professional standards committee at Firelands Association of Realtors. Marcia also is an active member of the Humane Society of Seneca County.

 

Math, science camp offers scholarships

The Tiffin Branch of the American Association of University Women is offering scholarships to the AAUW Be Wise Camp, June 11-16 on the campus of Denison University, Granville.

The Be Wise Camp is a mathematics, science, engineering and technology camp designed to develop interest and self-confidence in girls who are entering seventh or eighth grades in the fall of 2017.

ProMedica Fostoria offering grants

FOSTORIA — Fostoria area students pursuing degrees in health care are encouraged to apply for scholarships through the ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital Foundation.

Scholarships in amounts from $500 to $1,500 are to be awarded for the 2017-18 academic year.
