NCA board to meet

North Central Academy Board is to meet at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at NCA.

TCS program committee to meet

Tiffin City Board of Education’s Program Committee is to meet at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Administration Building, 244 S. Monroe St.

BC board to meet

NEW WASHINGTON – Buckeye Central Board of Education is to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the multi-purpose room of the school, 938 S. Kibler St.

BCA board to meet

The governing board of Bridges Community Academy has set the dates for its meetings for 2014-2015.

The meetings are at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, Oct. 9, Nov. 13, Jan. 8, Feb. 12, March 12, April 9, May 14 and June 11.

Student registration event planned

Tiffin City K-5 elementary school students and their parents are invited to participate in Tiffin City Schools’ annual “Back-To-School Night” Aug. 19.

Guardians and parents and students are to have the opportunity to drop off supplies, see classrooms and meet teachers.

Anyone new to the district can visit their school and register before Aug. 22. Registration for new elementary students begins 8-11:30 a.m. and 1-3:30 p.m. Monday.

To register, parents and guardians are to bring their child’s birth certificate, immunization record, proof of residency and proof of custody, if applicable.

The first day of school is Aug. 25.

The schedule for the event depends on the building. The schedules are as follows:

6-7 p.m. at Washington K-1 Elementary.

6:30-7:30 p.m. at Krout 2-3 Elementary.

7-8 p.m. Noble 4-5 Elementary.

St. Wendelin celebrates jubilee

FOSTORIA – St. Wendelin Parish and Catholic School is to celebrate Fr. Nicholas Weibl’s 50th Jubilee at 11 a.m. Aug. 17 beginning with Mass followed by a reception.

Opportunity Center free meal policy

Seneca County Opportunity Center School of Opportunity announced the 2014-15 program policy for free and reduced price meals for students unable to pay the full price of meals served under the National School Lunch Program.

The school office has a copy of the policy which may be reviewed by any interested party.

The Federal income Eligibility Guidelines are to determine eligibility. Children from families whose annual income is at or below the federal guidelines are eligible for free or reduced price meals.

Applications are to be distributed to homes in the form of a letter and are to be returned to the school.

Households are to be notified of the approval or denial of benefits.

New gaming software in Catholic schools

Black Rocket Productions, a national leader in educational enrichment in creative sciences and technology programs, is to introduce new game-based software in the diocese of Toledo’s schools.

The software application allows students to design, create and share video games about the academic subjects they are studying.

The Diocese of Toledo was awarded the Ohio Electronic Textbook Pilot Grant for the Black Rocket software in May.

More than 20,000 students nationwide use Black Rocket’s software, according to its website.
