Life learners to learn about human trafficking
FREMONT – Terra State Community College’s Life Scholarship program is to offer a session on human trafficking from 9 a.m.-noon May 5. The cost to attend is $5 for Life Scholar members and $15 for non-members.
Kizzy Willimas from Toledo Area Ministries Second Chance and Youth Services is to present “Human Trafficking: Close to Home.”

Owens’ directors to meet
PERRYSBURG – The Owens Community College Alumni Association Board of Directors is to meet at 5 p.m. May 13 in the Heritage Hall, Room 13, 30335 Oregon Road, Perrysburg.
The meeting is for updates on budget, membership, committee reports, alumni, foundation and student government updates.
Owens to host school supply drive
PERRYSBURG – Owens Community College’s Alumni Association is to host its annual “Backpack to the Future” summer supply drive.
Gently used or new backpacks and new school supplies are being accepted through the summer months. Donations can be brought to the Office of Alumni Relations on the Toledo-are campus and the Education Center Atrium on the Findlay-area campus.
Items collected through the program are to be given to low-income elementary school children throughout Northwest Ohio.

Locals perform in HU choir concert
Local students who performed in Heidelberg University’s concert choir and chambersingers were Ellen Lange of Bloomville, Hunter Jordan of Carey and Cy Boehler, Hannah Mathias, Nicholas Saxton, Sarah Semer, Jacob Smith and Stephen Smith, all of Tiffin.
Locals inducted into academic honor society
Heidelberg University students Maria Gerber of Clyde and Alison Perry and Katherine White, both of Tiffin, have been inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta, national academic honorary society.
HU students recognized for their efforts
Local Heidelberg University students honored during the annual Student Awards Celebration April 25 were Allison Perry, Laura Gilchrist, Sebastian Williams, Christopher Osbourne and Amanda Barger, all of Tiffin; Aaron Kapelka of Fostoria; Anna Sisco of Bettsville; and Julia Kagy of Bloomville.
Tiffin native inducted into honor society
Kimberly Lonsbury of Tiffin has been inducted into the Upsilon Chi Chi Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International at the University of Cincinnati.
Lonsbury is the daughter of Mark and Patty Lonsbury of Tiffin.
Sycamore native performed in piano recital for UF
FINDLAY – Rachel Flood of Sycamore performed in a piano recital at The University of Findlay.
Flood performed Intermezzo, Opus 118 and No. 2 from 6 piano pieces by Johanne Brahms.
