PERRYSBURG – Owens Community College is to host a Transportation Technologies Career Day 6-9 p.m. April 29 in the Transportation Technology Building, 30335 Oregon Road, Perrysburg.

Owens to host academic boot camp

FINDLAY – Owens Community College is to host Jumpstart, a six-week academic and arts summer boot camp for graduating high school seniors 9 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. June 16-July 25 at the Toledo and Findlay area campuses.

HU senior earns scholarship

Heidelberg University senior Dorion Kemph is the winner of the 2014-15 Berg Falcon Master of Accountancy Scholarship.

Chemistry students attend conference

Heidelberg University sophomore Lily White traveled with a group of chemistry club members and professors Nathan Beres and Aaron Roerdking to the National American Chemical Society conference in Dallas, Texas, in March.

White’s presentation was also featured in Katherine Paulsen’s blog for Thermor Scientific.

Local women honored

Heidelberg University hosted two outreach programs to honor local women entrepreneurs and high school students during the Patricia Adams Lecture Series.

The winners of the Women Entrepreneur Awards include Lydia Ridner of Krout Elementary School; Jessica Williams of Balliwicks Coffee Co.; Kathy Hunt of Elmwood Communities; Carol Yager and Judy Smith of Crystal Traditions of Tiffin Inc.; and Judy Theis of the Community Civic Center.

HU students attend education conference

Ten members of Heidelberg University’s Ohio Student Educator’s Association and advisor Kristen Williams attended the OSEA State Conference.

The students attending were Taylor Hart, Alexis Pennington, Samuel Conde, Becca Meek, Sara Ash, Elizabeth Volz, Elizabeth Finnegan, Dorothy Faris, Alexandra Smith and Jodi Zirger.

Heidelberg University’s national psychology honorary, Psi Chi, has inducted local students Dinah Adams, Stacey Wank and Lynda Hyde of Tiffin.

Color festival at TU

Tiffin University’s Multicultural Services and International Admissions and Advising Offices and the International Cultural Center are to celebrate Holi, a Festival of Colors, at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Legacy Courtyard.

Anne Marie Fowler, senior lecturer in Tiffin University’s master of humanities program, has been awarded a writing residency at the Writer’s Colony at Dairy Hollow.

Tiffin University professor Fang-Mei Law conducted a four-hour workshop for the Eastern Ohio Counseling Association April 18 in Warren.

FINDLAY – Sophia Kentris of Fostoria is to perform in The University of Findlay Orchestra concert at 3 p.m. April 27 in Winebrenner Theological Seminary, TLB auditorium.

Ryan Wood of Tiffin performed in The University of Findlay’s Senior Instrumental April 9.

Attica native honored

ASHLAND – Marissa Willman of Attica has been named an Academic Honors recipient at Ashland University.

Willman is majoring in integrated language arts and is a 2012 Seneca East graduate. She is the daughter of Christopher and Dana Willman of Attica.

SPRINGFIELD – Andrea Gaietto of Tiffin has been inducted into the Gamma Sigma Alpha national honor society at Wittenberg University.
