Area natives to perform in UF spring concert
FINDLAY – The University of Findlay Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble is to perform “Enchanted Places – Worlds of Imagination” in its annual Spring Concert at 3 p.m. today in the Findlay High School Heminger Auditorium.
Local students to participate are Nicholas Koehler of Upper Sandusky, Travis Wolph of Fostoria and Ryan Wood of Tiffin.
Recycling event planned at Terra
FREMONT – Terra State Community College is to host its fifth annual Community Recycling Day 2-6 p.m. April 22 at the campus, 2830 Napoleon Road.
Electronics items that are to be accepted include: computer CPUs, monitors ($5 charge), speakers, keyboards, mouse, electric typewriters, word processors, televisions ($25 charge), sweepers, fans, stereo/boom box, copiers, printers, game consoles, telephones, small kitchen appliances, ham radio equipment and anything with a power cord except large kitchen appliances, dehumidifiers, air conditioners and any device containing Freon.

Local featured in art exhibition
FINDLAY -The University of Findlay is hosting the 2014 Juried Student Art Exhibition through April 24 in the Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion.
Local students participating in the show are Cole Fittro of Tiffin, Kacie Pohlman of Fostoria, Miranda Rife of Fostoria and Drew Smith of Tiffin.
HU honors local students
The Honor Society at Heidelberg University has inducted 36 new members.
Local students inducted are Laura Gilchrist of Tiffin; Aaron Kapelka of Fostoria; and Julia Kagy of Bloomville.
Local students to participate in Model UN
Heidelberg University professor Marc O’Reilly’s political science students are to participate in the Model United Nations of the Far West Simulation.
Local students participating in the program are Sheldon Miller of Republic; Dylan Lohr of Upper Sandusky; and Craig Huffman, Esham Ahmed and Jodef Burkart, all of Tiffin.
Heidelberg represented at chemistry conference
Aaron Roerdink, assistant professor of chemistry and analytical chemist with Heidelberg University’s National Center for Water Quality Research, and Nathaniel Beres, assistant professor of chemistry, accompanied eight students – Ali Bauer, Lauren Brown, Elaine Fowler, Allison Kennedy, Allison Perry, Jenny Simko, Lauren Stainbrook and Lily White – to the National American Chemical Society conference in Dallas March 15-20.
TU adviser to co-present at conference
Rachel Crooks, Tiffin University’s director of International Student Advising, is to co-present with Heidelberg University at the National Association of Foreign Student Advisors Drive-In Conference April 25.
The presentation is to focus on how TU and Heidelberg universities have collaborated to incorporate international students with the Tiffin community.
TU professor co-authors book
Joshua Hill, assistant professor of criminal justice and security studies at Tiffin University, has co-authored a new textbook, “Introduction to Homeland Security: Policy, Organization, and Administration.”
UF inducts local students to honors society
FINDLAY -The University of Findlay’s College of Business has inducted Kyla Frey of Upper Sandusky and Debra Ward of Fostoria into the Delta Mu Delta, Nu Beta Chapter, honor society.
Terra inducts area students into Greek chapter

University of Northwestern Ohio dean’s list
LIMA – Jacob Frankart of Bloomville has been named to the dean’s list at The University of Northwestern Ohio.
Former Tiffin resident earns doctorate
Nicholas Reimer of Fremont has received his doctoral degree in physical therapy from The University of Arizona College of Medicine.
Reimer is a 1994 Calvert High School graduate.
