17th annual chicken barbeque
Sts. Patrick & Andrew Church is having its 17th annual chicken barbecue and ham dinner Aug. 25 at St. Patrick Hall, 6250 W. Tiffin St., Bascom. Dinners are to be served 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the air-conditioned hall with carry-out available. Dinner includes choice of chicken or ham, potatoes, applesauce, green beans, rolls and butter along with dessert and drink.
The price of a 1/2 chicken or whole slice of ham dinner is $8 and 1/4 chicken or half slice of ham dinner is $5.50.
Y offers afterschool program
The Tiffin Community YMCA is to offer an afterschool program to school-aged children throughout the Tiffin City Schools District.

The Tiffin-Seneca Public Library’s Board of Directors are to meet at noon Tuesday in the Junior Home room.
Book group to meet Sept. 19
The next “Coffee by the Book: Book Group at the Wick” is 6-7 p.m. Sept. 19 at Bailiwicks, 62 S. Washington St.
The next title is “The Unchangeable Spots of Leopards” by Kristopher Jansma. The book is to be available at the information desk at the library beginning Monday.
T-SPL expands services online
Tiffin-Seneca Public Library has expanded its services with ebooks, audiobooks, music and video available through the library’s website through OverDrive.
Library card holders can borrow digital media by visiting www.tiffinsen.lib.oh.us or seoebook.seo.lib.oh.us.
Users also are able to borrow items through devices including iPhone, iPad, Nook, Android phones and tablets and Kindle. Titles are to expire at the end of the lending period. The service is free and no late fees.

T-SPL to offer story time
Children 3-6 years of age can participate in Preschool Story Time at Tiffin-Seneca Public Library during 30-minute sessions 1-6:30 p.m. Sept. 5, 12, 19 and 26 in the Frost Kalnow Community room.
The program is to feature stories, poems, songs, finger plays, puppets and more.
No registration is required.

BELLEVUE -The Bellevue Public Library is to offer an Introduction to Facebook class 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27.
The class is to demonstrate how to use Facebook. For those that already have a Facebook account, bring username and password information.

TCS reduced meal policy detailed
Tiffin City Schools has announced its 2013-14 program year policy for free and reduced-price meals for students unable to pay the full price of meals served under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program.
Each school office has a copy of the policy that can be review by any interested party.
The Federal Income Eligiblity Guidelines are to determine eligiblity. Children from familes with an annual income at or below the federal guidelines are eligible for free and reduced-price meals.
Applications are to be distribued to homes in a letter to parents and guardians.

The North Central Ohio ESC board of governors is to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the North Central Ohio Educational Service Center, Tiffin campus, 928. W. Market St.
Old Fort to auction off property
OLD FORT The Old Fort Local School District Board of Education is to host a public auction 6 p.m. Sept. 16 for a property in Fort Seneca located at 5980 North SR 53.
The board reserves all rights to accept or reject all bids. Cash is to be accepted or a certified cashier’s check and is to be made payable to the board or a combination in the amount of 10 percent of the accepted bid at the time of the public auction.
Information concerning the auction and a copy of the conditions of sale can be obtained at the office of the superintendent.
HU announces new trustee
The Heidelberg University Board of Trustees appointed Jerilyn Medrea to a four-year term on the board. Medrea is a 1977 Heidelberg graduate and served as the keynote speaker for the spring Patricia Adams Lecture Series.
She is joined by Carol Cartwright, president emerita of Bowling Green and Kent State universities; alumnus Richard Odell, private schools educator; alumna Kim Newman, co-owner of Tiffin Aire Inc.; and alumnus Jaimie Orr, Tiffin University professor and dean.
