Dream come true
Tiffin man opens Beacon Hill Coffee
A Tiffin man is chasing his dream of owning a coffee shop.
Beacon Hill Coffee Co., Brandon Haman’s traveling coffee cart, opened Tuesday in the parking lot of JEM Network Consulting, 2226 W. Market St.
Haman said he worked in a coffee shop in Lima while attending college.
“(I) always wanted to own a coffee shop,” he said.
Haman’s 11-year-old daughter, Laela, is a business partner, and he credits her as being the reason he had the courage to start the business.
Haman, a 2007 Columbian High School graduate and a police officer in Carey, said he probably spent a year and a half building the trailer and obtaining equipment and permits. It was not an easy process, he said.
“Now, we need to start making money. … (It’s) exciting and scary,” he said.
Haman said he would like to offer catering services for events such as corporate events, parties and outdoor weddings.
Haman said he gets coffee beans from Bailiwicks Coffee Co. and doughnut mix from JT’s Bagel Bar.
His coffee choices include frozen and hot and cold brews, and his food choices include miniature doughnuts, toasted bagels, fresh fruit and oatmeal.
Most days, the cart is to be open 6 a.m. until about noon. Haman said he would put the hours on the business’ Facebook page.
“They are flexible,” he said.
