Amish sheds among new firm’s products
A business that sells sheds and other structures opened in Tiffin in July.
Brian Coppus said he and Jason McClaflin are franchise co-owners of Sheds Direct of Tiffin, 2226 W. Market St. Coppus said his son Gavyn does most of the sales and handles day-to-day operations.
Coppus said he and McClaflin had space in the parking lot and were looking for a way to generate income. They started evaluating companies that sold sheds and decided on Sheds Direct Inc. because it has a good dealer program and are locally built, he said.
“They’re all locally built here in Ohio down in Amish country … ,” Coppus said. “The craftmanship and the building materials they use … they only use top-of-the-line products to put in the sheds.”
He said the business offers a range from sheds to horse barns to chicken coops, dog kennels and playhouses. Sheds Direct also is partnered with Swing Kingdom, which sells swingsets for residential and commercial purposes, Coppus said.
“It’s a pretty wide range of products and that’s one of the biggest reasons we chose Sheds Direct, is because they have such a huge portfolio of different things that they sell,” he said.
The sheds also are customizable, he said.
“There’s no difference in cost. The only difference is usually it takes one to two weeks to get a shed if it’s on our lot and if we do a custom order, it usually takes three to four weeks,” Coppus said.
He said sheds run from 8-feet-by-12-feet to 14-feet-by-60-feet and vary in materials and color.
“There’s a wide variety of different products, services and sizes,” Coppus said. “You can get vinyl or wood. You can get barns with porches on them or cottages or even mini-homes.”
Coppus said the company offers financing.
Every purchase includes a jar of Amish-made jam, he said.
Coppus said sheds also are available to rent for a couple of months.
He said they also own Sheds Direct on 53 in McCutchenville, in partnership with another group. Coppus said they are looking into more expansion and the future looks promising.
“We are also going to be opening a Findlay location in the next 30 days,” he said. “Sandusky and Port Clinton are the other two target areas we are looking at next.”
An official grand opening for the Tiffin location is to be announced, he said.
“We’re locally owned and operated and I will beat anyone’s price,” he said. “We do very creative things.”
Coppus said a man came into the business a few weeks ago and said nobody was willing to help him get rid of his old shed. Coppus put it on his Facebook page and found someone who would pick up the man’s shed for free in 15 minutes, he said.
“The next week the man came in and bought a shed and thanked us over and over for helping him,” he said. “I think that part of the whole customer service process is doing things that other people won’t do in order to earn somebody’s business.”
The business offers free delivery within 50 miles.
The business is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m-2 p.m. Saturday. The phone number is (419) 960-0042 and its website is www.shedsdirectoftiffin.com.
