Marking 100 years | Advertiser-Tribune REPUBLIC — Republic Elevator is celebrating its 100th birthday as an independent farmer cooperative noon-3 p.m. Saturday with a customer appreciation lunchtime open house. "People can just stop in," said Manager Randy Frankart, who's been with the farmer-owned co-op for 42 years. He said the local co-op, at 522 Maple St., Republic, is unusual because it has not merged with other co-ops. "What's happening is 99 percent of the elevators merge with somebody else," he said. "We are still self-sufficient and still making a profit every yea.
